Warwick 2011 results for team WPVW.....

well for the 2nd year in a row , team WPVW has come out on top at the VWMA Warwick drag racing with fastest ET and fastest speed for the event taken out by Wayne Penrose in his 1956 turbo oval beetle 6.33@113mph (184kph) on the 1/8 mile strip . The new 2827ml type-4 turbo/injected engine produced 443hp @ the wheels .

2nd fastest ET for the event was WPVW team member Chris Bolton in his brand new 67 beetle drag car 6.71@101mph (164kph) . Chris' bug is powered by a WPVW built type-1 2387ml turbo / carb engine running on methanol . This combination produced 238hp @ the wheels . Chris also won 'Best Engineered' vehicle .

WPVW team member Ben Ford had a much better Warwick VW drags this year after crashing his supercharged bug into the wall last year . Ben ran a new PB of 7.04@100mph (162kph) , he also qualified for the Top 10 Shootout and came runner-up in the final . Ben also won the award for most improved .

WPVW team member Cindy Hurst raced 'MANGO DREAM' this year as her 2442ml turbo/injected engine for Billi the rat bug didnt get finished in time for the event . Cindy ran 10.4@68mph

WPVW team member Joe Tanti had his first ever taste of drag racing and became familiar with the lights very quickly . Joe competed in the WPVW sports sedan and ran a best time of 8.5@82mph

a great weekend was had by all , and all 5 of the WPVW team cars were driven back onto the transporter for the trip home .

Team WPVW makes their way to Warwick leaving at 2am friday in a 25-seater mini bus , loaded with all of our race gear . 2 nominated drivers ( Uncle Ray & Col ) get us there safely while we get some much deserved rest and sleep after the 16hour days / 7 days a week preparing for this event

we arrive at Warwick friday afternoon 5-30pm and unload our cars from the transporter and drive them into our marque

Lana-rose Bolton (daughter of Chris) always enjoys a weekend away at Warwick VW drags . This is her 3rd year attending and in a few short years I'm sure she will be competing ......

with everyone in high spirits , Team WPVW members stop for a break on the trip home and fool around ..........
